Who the fuck do you think you are.
On the word ‘Sorry’.
I still find it difficult to understand: why a person who is ‘upset’ (I use this term loosely) with someone else is prepared to ask them to say the word ‘sorry’.
Surely the person asking cannot take themselves seriously? Am I to assume that if one person truly upsets another, all can be eradicated by that simple word?
No. ‘Sorry’ is just a word. Better to show that you’re really sorry rather than say it; “actions speak louder than words.”
So, if a person says ‘just say sorry; you don’t even have to mean it’ what kind of indication is this on their personality?
Childish? Perhaps childlike. Perchance they have not experienced enough of reality to understand that words are meaningless - in such a context.
To place this into some form of understanding, a person who commits a crime will still have to serve punishment, even though they may have apologised. One could say that by being jailed, they have shown their apology (although this brings forth ideas of this being by force, so the argument is slightly flaw’d).
…and what if a ‘sorry’ is said without any real feeling behind it? What if the person later on admits that they are not actually sorry. Why still accept an non-meaningful apology?
This leads on to a second note; the difference between an apology and a ‘sorry’. An apology is someone recognising what they have done, admitting it, and assuring the other person they shan’t do it again. Is the word - which is only a word - ‘sorry’ really necessary? …or does it show some indication of the person.
[…thoughts to ponder upon]
The worst thing you can do in life is take it seriously.
